Poker stake rules V
September 22nd, 2008An important corollary to the all-in situation that comes into play according to the table stake rules in poker games is the concept of incomplete bet or raise. So, if someone is forced to go all-in at a time when he is not calling but when he is betting or raising, a special regulation comes into effect, according to which any one of two courses is open to him to opt from. While in the poker games played with pot limit and no limit structures, the full bet rule is applied, the fixed limit and the spread limit games either follow the full bet rule or the half bet rule. According to the full bet rule, if the all-in bet size does not match the minimum bet or if the value of the all-in is lower than the value of the preceding raise, then it is not treated as a real raise which means it cannot be used to reopen betting. According to the half bet rule that if the value of the all-in is equal to half the amount of minimum bet or more than half of the minimum bet, then it can be considered as a real raise and can be used to reopen betting. When a poker game is being played with the half bet rule, a player has the choice of completing a raise that was incomplete, provided he has the right to raise, that is he has till that time not participated in betting action or has not acted since the time a full bet or raise was placed in the table. Once a bet or a raise is in this way completed, the remaining players in the table can use it to reopen betting action. Since in games with full bet rule application, the all-in value is not acknowledged as a real raise such consideration don’t come into play.
